Akiyama, the first one the game introduces, utilizes only kicks when bare-handed and they are lightning fast, which made him my favourite character of the bunch. Each of the four has their own gimmick, well except Kiryu who plays exactly as he did in Yakuza 3. Touching upon the game’s combat first, it’s an improvement over its direct predecessor, still somewhat clunky but thanks to the multiple protags, there’s more variety in playstyle this time around. Kiryu may have been the star for the first 3 games in the series, but this time he’s sharing the spotlight and I am quite glad for it.
